Fitness Myths That You Should Be Aware Of

The demand to stay fit and look young has caused frenzy in the weight loss industry. This should cause people to be careful about what to believe and what not to believe. And sometimes this may prove confusing with almost everybody coming up with tactics like programs that claim Losing Weight in Three Days or products that say No Exercise Weight Loss. These are just but a few of those fitness myths that we should be aware of so as not to fall prey to. This is because aside from these claims being false, some of them may even be dangerous for you. Let’s clear them out for you.
  1. One of the most popular of these fitness myths is that you can only burn fat when you exercise. Body fat is not gained when one is not fully exercised. Although there are many factors that cause one to grow fat, the main reason you do gain fat is because you are not completely harnessing the blood sugar levels available. In laymen’s term, this means you may be eating too much calories at so short a time.

  2. Bread is fattening. Almost everything is fattening. Anything with calories that is. That means any food or drink can be stored by the body as fat when it causes the blood sugar level to go beyond that the body actually needs. Bread and pasta and a whole lot more are great sources of carbohydrates that the body also needs. The key here is to know what to eat, how much to eat, and when exactly to eat.

  3. Eating in the evening will make you fat is one of those fitness myths that those girls doing the after-six diet believes in. Even when we are asleep our body continues to burn calories. That means twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. So everything really depends on whether is able to metabolize the right amount of calories at the right time.

  4. At the age of 30, one’s metabolism starts to slow down. The slowing down of metabolism does not come with age. It is caused by the body’s loss of muscle tissues. If one lacks physical ability (or exercise) then he may be in danger of losing these muscle tissues.

  5. Strength training will give your muscles that hard-packed look. Most women do not do strength training because they are afraid that if they do, they’ll get their muscles growing. Hormonal production and genetics has a lot to do with your muscle size. Because muscles burn down calories, the more muscles you have the more easier it would be for your body to burn fats and the harder for it to gain it.
These are just but a few of those fitness myths that some people unfortunately believe in. And because of these, they tend to fail in their goal of reaching their fitness level. Knowing what is right and wrong when it comes to fitness is therefore essential before deciding to hit the gym.
