Know the Physical Symptoms of Your Nutrient Deficiency

When you develop a nutrient deficiency, this can result to various health conditions. This is due to the fact that when you are ailing, your problem can lead to complications. For example, protein deficiency can result to edema. On the other hand, you will develop rickets when you lack vitamin D. Iron deficiency anemia is due to the lack of iron; while scurvy is due to the deficiency of vitamin C. If you think that you lack important nutrients, you should consult with your physician right away. You should do this before you alter your diet or your take in supplements. When you seek the advice of your doctor, you will be able to determine which diet is suitable for you to help you get through your deficiency.

In order for you to know whether you have a certain nutrient deficiency, you should be aware of the
symptoms that you are going through. When you lack calories, protein, zinc, iron, and vitamins B1 and B2; you will go through general apathy. There is wasting of the tissue or the muscle. You will be underdeveloped, undersized, and underweight for your age. You will lose the natural color of your skin; and you will appear really pale. These latter symptoms also go the same for your lips, hair, and nail beds. On the other hand, your hair will get most of the effects when you lack zinc and protein. It will turn dry, stiff, wiry, and brittle. It will also lose its natural color, and tends to fall off easily.

Another common deficiency condition is brought about due to the inadequate levels of iron. This problem will make your nails ridged and brittle. What is more, their shape will turn like that of a spoon. Nutrient deficiency is indicative also when the pallor of your skin is bad. You need more amounts of essential fatty acids, protein, vitamins A, C, K, B2, other B vitamins, iron, and niacin when your skin is scaly or flaky. You will also suffer from irregular pigmentation and dermatitis. What is more, you will develop edema, and your skin will retain more fluids. There is also a huge likely that your skin will crack. When this happens, you will suffer from bruises or tiny hemorrhages.

Other deficiency problems are characterized by complications to the eyes. You will suffer from eyelid inflammation when you have high levels of blood fat. This symptom is also indicative of iron, vitamins A and B2 deficiency. When you are affected with one of these deficiencies, you will go through signs like the appearance of foamy irritations on your eye’s surface. This might also lead to the thickening or softening of your eye’s surface. There is also a possibility that you won’t be able to see well in the dark.

Your face will get much of the effects when your nutrient deficiency is due to the inadequacy of vitamin B2, protein, and iron. When you take in too much sugar, your mouth will suffer from the symptoms. This goes the same when you lack niacin, folic acid, vitamins C, B2, and B12. The bones are affected when you do not get enough vitamins A, C, and D, protein, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus.
